Food for Thought

Or perhaps that should be thoughts of food....

It's the time of year when everything around has started growing at a pace so in making the most of it style for this month I need to begin work for some food for later in the year.

We don't dedicate much of our outside space to growing food, but the produce we grow ourselves is always welcome and well used. This was some of last year's bounty.

As you can see it doesn't take much room - in fact I'm always amazed by how much you can pack into pots and small areas using vertical opportunities. There was also a great supply of rocket grown in an old wooden crate lined with a rubble sack - much cheaper than the stuff you get from the supermarket

Added to that was the basil which supplied us with pesto all summer.

Then there was the spare from my sister's patch to make the most of...

Month 4 - Bite 19

I know I can't start sowing just yet as we're about to take a bit of a holiday, but today is all about making sure that the containers are ready, the geraniums begin their journey from the shed to outdoor pots and the canes are clean and sorted for the beans.

So off out into the sunshine I go..
